About
Did you know that pediatric feeding difficulties are not uncommon? In the U.S., somewhere between 25-45% of typically developing children will experience some sort of feeding difficulty. In children with developmental disabilities, that number increases to as high as 72%. Even so, many parents still feel lost on how to address feeding difficulties and that can lead to stress and frustration. Maybe your child has a complex medical diagnosis and you’re feeling overwhelmed. Perhaps your child is struggling to meet feeding milestones and you’re worried you’re not “doing it right”. Maybe you’ve received conflicting advice from those around you, and you’re feeling more lost than ever. Here’s the thing. You are not expected to know everything. That’s where a feeding therapist comes in.
Beehive Speech Therapy provides in-home feeding therapy. In my own experience, I have found one of the best ways to help a child is to empower their caregiver. Thus, my goal is to work with both the child and their caregivers to increase confidence, safety and success. I have experience working with infants, toddlers and children with a variety of diagnoses, including Autism, Down Syndrome and other congenital syndromes/abnormalities. I also have experience working with children with tracheostomies and ventilator dependence. If your child has a diagnosis that’s left you feeling overwhelmed, or you’re just feeling frustrated and in need of some support, I’d love to help.
I know it can be difficult to find the right provider, so I offer free phone or video-call consultations. Get to know me and see if Beehive Speech Therapy is a good fit for you. At the very least, let me give you some encouragement on your feeding journey. Know you’re not alone, and success may be closer than you think.
