About

At Communication Blooms, we approach feeding therapy through a sensory-based, child-led lens. Many parents come to us after noticing mealtime struggles that feel bigger than “picky eating,” things like gagging, food refusal, limited variety, or a child who seems to dread the table altogether. We see these patterns not as behaviors to correct, but as information about how a child’s body is experiencing food, texture, smell, and the whole sensory world of eating.

Our team holds advanced training in feeding therapy, oral motor and myofunctional therapy, and early communication development, which means we look at the full picture: oral structure, sensory processing, motor skills, and the emotional experience of mealtimes for both the child and the family. Rather than pushing a child toward “just one more bite,” we follow their lead. We build trust with food through exploration, play, and gradual exposure, allowing children to engage at their own pace in a way that feels safe rather than pressured.

Families working with us can expect a warm, collaborative process. We take time to understand your child’s history, your family’s mealtime routines, and what’s already been tried. Sessions are individualized, often incorporating sensory play, oral motor exercises, and strategies you can carry into everyday meals at home. We coach parents alongside their child, because lasting progress happens when the whole family feels equipped and confident, not just during therapy, but at the dinner table every night.

What sets us apart is our whole-child, whole-family philosophy. Feeding doesn’t happen in isolation, it’s connected to breathing, oral motor function, sensory regulation, and communication. As a private-pay practice, we’re able to spend the time each child truly needs, without the constraints of rigid insurance models. Our goal isn’t just to expand a child’s diet, it’s to help mealtimes become a source of connection and confidence for the whole family.
