Nina Johanson’s AEIOU Integrated Approach to Pediatric Feeding is a responsive feeding approach that guides assessment and treatment. Intervention plans are compassionate and family-centered. Nina supports infants and children with mild to complex medical and developmental challenges. The AEIOU framework—Acceptance, Exposure, Independence, Observation, and Understanding—prioritizes child autonomy and family relationships. This integrated, evidence-based approach is trauma-informed and neurodiversity-affirming. It helps children at every stage, from breast and bottle feeding to advancing food textures and transitioning from feeding tubes.
